Ten triples teams took part in Brentwood Bowling Club’s annual Captains’ Day competition which was won by … wait for it … men’s captain Richard Rose with lead Ron Waller and Ann Powell.
The weather on Sunday 7th August was perfect for the afternoon event played on the top green at King George’s Playing Fields.
Afterwards, players and guests enjoyed a fish or chicken supper in the pavilion followed by fruits of the forest dessert with ice cream.
After the meal, men’s captain Richard Rose and ladies’ captain Margaret Rayment welcomed everyone and outlined some of the highlights of the season before thanking many individuals for their unwavering support and efforts throughout the year.
The two captains exchanged personal gifts and Margaret also presented flowers to her vice-captain Kath Jolly, Ann Powell and Kate Davies ‘who are always there to help in many ways’.
