Two days after their friendly win at Clacton, Brentwood Bowling Club players were back at the seaside on Sunday 15th July when they celebrated victory against Gildredge Park Bowling Club in Eastbourne.
A coach party of club members were joined by four ladies from Liberty of Havering for the friendly with five rinks of triples.
With temperatures soaring to 25C, 16 ends were played instead of the usual 18 and at the end of the afternoon, Brentwood finished 28 shots ahead with the overall score at 79 – 51.
Two Liberty ladies – Iris Collis and Anne Phillips – shared in the spoils of the day by teaming up with Brentwood’s Richard Rose on the visitors’ highest winning rink. They were rewarded with two presentations of small gifts by Brentwood captain-for-the-day Fred Wasmuth and home captain Henry Knowles.
Referring to the final scoreline, Henry told players: “We are known as the friendly club and we could not have expressed our friendliness in a more abundant way!”
Fred thanked the hosts for their hospitality and hoped to organise another visit next year.
