A sponsorship deal has secured one of the region’s most prestigious lawn bowling competitions to be held at Brentwood Bowling Club next season.
Brentwood men’s captain Fred Wasmuth organises the annual invitation triples competition and he confirmed the deal at the club’s annual meeting on Saturday 11th November 2017 when he announced that current sponsors Bentley Crematorium would continue to support the event.
The one-day competition attracts entries from 24 teams from across Essex and east London competing for trophies and £500 prize money.
Fred said: “Invitations to clubs will be sent out early and we expect it will be heavily supported once again.”
The 12-rink event will take place on both greens at King George’s Playing Fields in Brentwood on Sunday 1st July 2018.
At the Brentwood AGM, Fred listed the club’s successes in leagues, outside competitions and inter-club trophy games and added: “There’s no doubt that our best performance was in the Wednesday night Romford Bowling Association triples league where we finished runners-up in the first division, collecting a silver salver and £100 cheque.
“I think we can be rather pleased with how the season panned out and somewhat optimistic going into the 2018 season.”
