Eight mixed triples teams took part in the annual Richards Trophy competition at Brentwood Bowling Club on Sunday 23rd July 2017.
Teams were due to play three games of six ends but the last game was curtailed due to torrential rain.
Undoubted winners were Keith Howson, Alison Hare and skip Fred Wasmuth who finished 12 shots clear of their nearest rivals to get their names on the silverware.
The trophy was presented to the club in tribute to the memory of former members George and Olive Richards from Doddinghurst.
Centenarian George died in 2011 and his wife died seven years earlier at the age of 90. Their daughters Janet Alderton and Celia Eade were guests at this year’s event at King George’s Playing Fields and presented the trophy to the winning team.
They were welcomed by club president Byron Davies who said George was a club stalwart who was still playing bowls after his 100th birthday.
Celia said she and her sister always liked to visit the club especially as it meant so much to their parents. “You make us so welcome and we really enjoy coming here,” she said.
