Seven triples teams competed in the annual Ted Hasler Trophy competition at Brentwood Bowling Club on Sunday 21st May 2017.
Each team played four games of six ends at King George’s Playing Fields and eventual winners were Alison Hare, Ann Powell and skip Harry Egleton who had racked up enough points to lift the silverware after their third game.
In their last game, they added another 15 points to put them on 57, 16 points clear of runners-up Pat Miller, Maureen Murrell and their skip Sandra Fenton.
In third place on 33 points were Joan Stevenson, Ted Vidler and skip Byron Davies. Other teams: Keith Howson, Dave Coward, Margaret Rayment; Ken Collins, Brian Martin, Maureen Jaycock; Trevor Watson, Barbara Morrish, John Howard; Janet Howson, Cliff Jaycock, Trevor Pedley.
The results were announced by club chairman Richard Rose who thanked his son Mark for managing the competition, a task which was more complicated than usual due to the odd number of teams. “But we got there in the end,” said Richard.
President Byron Davies thanked Richard for his contribution to the success of the all-day event and ladies’ section captain Margaret Rayment thanked Kate Davies for organising refreshments.
Ted Hasler was president of the club from 1977 – 1982 and the eponymous trophy was first played for in 1985.
This year’s winners will receive their award at the club presentation night on 3rd November.
