It seems to be a record year for pied wagtails at Brentwood Bowling Club where many of the visitors are setting up home.

Apart from standing on the greens frantically wagging their tails up and down, the tiny black and white birds can now be seen gathering nesting material.
According to the RSPCA, there are about 470,000 pairs of the insect-eating birds in the UK. Just why an increasing number are homing in to our bowling club is a mystery.
