Four pairs competed in the season’s first spoon drive organised by Ted Vidler on Tuesday May 2.
The sun shone on a lovely warm morning, giving perfect conditions for the competition which was played over 18 ends on the top green.
Men’s captain Fred Wasmuth and Peter Wilson were the eventual winners on shot difference and shared the grand sum of £4 which was half of the total entry fees.
Ted said: “Many good things start small. Hopefully, more people will come along next week.”
The Tuesday morning events will be held throughout the season and invitations have been extended to Central Essex players and newcomers.
The entry fee is £1 and players are asked to arrive at 9.30 for 10am start.
