It is with great sadness we report the death of ladies’ section stalwart Pam Baker.
Pam, who was in her late 80s, died a few days ago in Saint Francis Hospice after a short illness.
A funeral service will be held at Bentley Crematorium at 1pm on Wednesday 26th April. Pam’s family request donations to the hospice and a box for cash / cheques will be available at the crematorium (no flowers by request).
The family will be hosting refreshments afterwards at Ashwells and to assist with catering, members are asked to let Kate Davies know if they will be attending.
Pam was one of the longest-serving members of the ladies’ section and at the time of her death, she was a committee member and Hartswood Evening League representative. In the past, she had also served as ladies’ captain for a year.
Current ladies’ captain Margaret Rayment said: “Pam was a very good bowler and won lots of competitions. She will be sadly missed.”
Pam’s husband Jim was also a club member until his death in October 2014, and during their time, the couple were remembered for their victories in the annual His and Hers competition. Rivals attributed their successes to the fact that they remained focused … and never argued!
