Brentwood lift Bennett Trophy

Brentwood Bowling Club won the Arthur Bennett Memorial Trophy competition held at King George’s Playing Fields on Sunday 12th June 2016.

Six clubs belonging to the Brentwood and District Bowling Association took part in the event sponsored by Brentwood-based funeral directors Bennetts.

Each club entered a ladies’ team and a men’s team and despite heavy showers throughout the day they all managed to complete their four games of seven ends.

Brentwood ladies won three and lost one while players from the men’s section won two, drew one and lost one.

Brentwood players were Kath Jolly, Maureen Murrell, Ann Powell, Margaret Rayment, Ron Jolly, Trevor Pedley, John Young and Richard Rose.

Sandy Dron, president of the Brentwood and District Bowling Association, welcomed teams from Brentwood, Clockhouse, Haynes Park, Hutton Poplars, Ingatestone, and Kings Chase.

On behalf of the sponsors, Jane Bennett hosted lunch for everyone taking part and presented trophies to the winners and runners-up Haynes park.
