Instead of wearing traditional whites, members of Brentwood Bowling Club and Central Essex Bowling Club dressed in red, white and blue on Sunday 5th June 2016 when they joined forces to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Bowlers kept their individual scores for three games of six ends, watched by a good crowd of spectators making the most of the sizzling summer weather on what was the hottest day of the year.
Prizes donated by Central Essex were presented by Brentwood men’s captain Richard Rose who said: “It’s been a thoroughly successful day and I am sure everyone has enjoyed it.”
Margaret Welham was winner among the ladies with other prizes going to Joan Stevenson, Margaret Rayment and Barbara Morrish.
After a tie-break decided on the number of ends won, David Palmer received the men’s top prize with other awards collected by Dennis Curtis, Brian Moxom and Brian Duffield.
After the competition, tables and chairs were arranged around the green and the day was rounded off with a hog roast for around 100 players and guests.
