A dozen members of Brentwood Bowling Club travelled to Tye Green on Wednesday 21st October for an indoor friendly.
After a summer season of hurling woods up outdoor rinks, the visitors had trouble switching from grass to high-speed carpet and this was reflected in the overall scoreline of 90 – 37. But Brentwood had their moments, with two teams scoring a five on one end.
At the after-match meal, Brentwood captain Margaret Rayment said it should have been an all-ladies fixture and she thanked three men who stepped in to make up numbers due to player unavailability.
Margaret presented prizes to her fellow team players – Daphne Gilbert, Keith Howson and Ann Powell – who made up the top performing rink.
She also presented a special award for effort to Sue Hickman who was skip on one of the rinks. Sue came close to picking up another prize in the raffle but after her winning number was called out, it was discovered that there were no prizes left.
Teams: Daphne Gilbert, Keith Howson, Ann Powell, Margaret Rayment; Janet Howson, Barbara Jolly, Ron Jolly, Sue Hickman; Les Powell, Joan Stevenson, Kath Jolly, Maureen Jaycock.
