A summer open day on Saturday 1st August attracted a steady stream of visitors keen to try their hand at the quintessential English pastime of lawn bowling.
Experienced players from Brentwood Bowling Club were on hand to explain the game to visitors and to offer help and advice as they enjoyed a roll-up in glorious sunshine.
Club press officer Les Powell praised members who had helped to promote the event by downloading advertising posters and displaying them in shops, businesses and other locations across the borough.
Their efforts were rewarded on the day when four men and four women joined the club and several others took away membership application forms
Anyone else wanting to try the sport is invited to get in touch and arrange a free one-to-one taster session.
