A group of 15 bowlers and 14 non-bowlers from Brentwood Bowling Club enjoyed a coach trip to Rye on Friday 22nd August.
They arrived at around 11am, giving plenty of time for a stroll around the historic East Sussex town and lunch before the bowlers made their way to the local bowls club for a friendly with five rinks of triples.
Brentwood won on four rinks, losing by just one shot on the fifth, to win the day by 102 shots to 61.
On the journey home, captain-for-the-day Richard Rose presented gifts to players on Brentwood’s top rink – skip Ron Jolly, lead Daphne Gilbert and second Joan Stevenson. He also presented a gift to ladies’ captain Margaret Rayment and paid tribute to her hard work in organising the outing.
The trippers endorsed his remarks with a round of applause for Margaret and also put their hands together in appreciation of Patrick Miller turning up early.
Other teams: Kath Jolly, Patrick Miller, Byron Davies; Paul Harrison, Kate Davies, Richatd Rose; Ann Betts, Brian Martin, Margaret Rayment; Ken Collins, Marje Shute, Geoff Byatt.
