Brentwood Bowling Club men are through to the final of the Morton Trophy for the third year running.
They earned their place on Friday 8th August with a four-shot victory over Upminster-based Clockhouse in a match played one rink at home and one away.
The home triple of Adam Smith, Mark Rose and Robert Funnell got off to a slow start and were 13 – 4 down at one stage before getting into their stride to pull back to within one shot of their opponents, losing 16 – 17.
The away triple of Ron Lofts, Fred Wasmuth and Bob Theobald held a small lead for most of the game and ended up with a 19 – 14 win, so overall this resulted in a 35 – 31 scoreline.
The Morton Trophy was presented by Colin Morton, who is a member of Romford BC, some years back to be played for each season by clubs in the local area. Only bowlers who have not been badged by the county are eligible to play.
