Trio skip to victory

Three Brentwood bowlers have helped to lift the Ashford Cup, a major trophy competed for annually by unbadged players from the eight areas of the county.

Adam Smith, Geoff Byatt and Fred Wasmuth each played in skip position for Group 4 in the final against Group 2 which was played on six rinks at Wanstead on Sunday 13th July.

It is the first time Group 4 has won the trophy since 2007 and the first time Brentwood has had three skips out of six.

Clubs in Group 4 are Brentwood, Central Essex (Brentwood), Clockhouse (Upminster), Dagenham Central, Elm Park (Hornchurch), Gidea Park, Harold Hill, Haynes Park (Hornchurch), Hutton Poplars (Brentwood), Kings Chase (Brentwood), King George’s (Romford), Liberty of Havering, Rainham, Romford, St Chad’s (Romford), Upminster, and Warley Hill (Brentwood).
