Triples day winners

Bowlers from Ingatestone have beaten teams from across the county to win this year’s invitation triples competition organised by Brentwood Bowling Club.

Twenty-four teams took part in the contest at King George’s Playing Fields on Sunday 29th June when another team from the borough – Brentwood-based Kings Chase C – were runners-up. The two teams were the only ones to win all their five games of seven ends.

More than £500 prize money was shared by the top four teams including third-placed South Benfleet and Clockhouse A in fourth place.

Winners received their awards from Gary Ebsworth, representing competition sponsors Bentley Crematorium. He congratulated them on their success and also praised competition organiser Fred Wasmuth, vice-captain of the host club, for his tremendous efforts. Brentwood men’s captain Richard Rose also added his thanks to Fred.

In response, Fred congratulated the players and thanked everyone who had helped to make the day a success – Peter Hayward and his team for serving barbecued breakfast, Brenda Watson for running the raffle, members of the ladies’ section for organising the catering, Mark Rose for scoring. and bar manager Ron Waller.
