Members of Brentwood Bowling Club are being invited to support a fundraising initiative in memory of Valerie Port – wife of social member Terry Port – who died at the end of January aged 70.
Family friend James Wasmuth, son on club vice-captain Fred Wasmuth, is setting out to raise funds for Macmillan Nurses by climbing to the summit of the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.
James, 34, hopes to raise £1,000 for the charity which helped to care for Valerie in the final weeks of her life.
He aims to fulfil his Ben Nevis challenge on Saturday 31st August and sponsors can support him before and after the event by visiting his page on the JustGiving website.
Under the Gift Aid scheme, charities can reclaim an extra 25% in tax on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
