Seaside special

Twenty members of Brentwood Bowling Club headed for the Essex coast on Friday 12th July for the annual friendly fixture against good friends from Clacton Bowling Club.

Many of the trippers enjoyed a carvery lunch before the game at the seaside venue where they won on one rink, drew on two and lost on two, with the final score at 92 – 80 in Clacton’s favour.

Brentwood captain Richard Rose thanked the hosts for their warm welcome and said: “This is one of our best fixtures by a long way … and long may it continue.”

Richard skipped on the club’s winning rink with lead Kath Jolly, Trevor Pedley at two and Margaret Rayment at number three. They were presented with chocolates to mark their achievement.

Other teams: Ken Collins, Ann Rose, Kate Davies and Ron Lofts; Ann Betts, Peter Streeter, Brian Martin and Maureen Jaycock; Marion Lofts, Joan Stevenson, Cliff Jaycock and Byron Davies; Marina Thorne, Rose Collins, Les Powell and Ron Jolly.
