Brentwood Bowling Club entertained Harold Hill for a four-rink friendly on Thursday 6th June. Both sides won on two rinks but the visitors finished the afternoon 21 shots ahead to gain a well-earned victory.
There’s an old saying among bowlers that everything changes after tea and the adage rang true for the home team on rink 3 who were 14 – 2 down after 10 ends. But Ann Betts, Roy Akers, Kate Davies and skip Pat Miller made a dramatic comeback after the break when they won nine ends on the trot and ended their game three shots ahead at 20 – 17.
Brentwood captain-for-the-day Les Powell welcomed the visitors and said a special thank-you to the Brentwood volunteers who provided tea and cakes at the interval.
Overall score: Brentwood 65 – Harold Hill 86.
